Lyrically the songs take you on a journey of love lost, love formed, and through the struggles in overcoming life’s obstacles.
Because at the time of starting recording we didn’t have a full band, It was just Al and I, musically recording the album became a task of finding and developing our full band sound. We wanted our songs to provide a journey musically as well as lyrically, For example on ‘This Day’: the dynamic flow of the small verses to big chorus to cavernous drop section and then build to a huge euphoric outro, this dynamic portrays the heartache that the lyrics describe.
Despite a lot of the melancholic themes of the songs, they always offer light where there is currently dark, no matter how down some of life’s experience can bring you, there is always hope – and that’s epitomises the album: “A Flickering of Light” - the glimmer of hope that always lies at the end of life’s dark tunnels!
